This is a national movement. In short, we are average Canadians starting a campaign in line with the mandate set forth by Make Poverty History. We are calling on Canadians to donate 0.7% of their gross annual salary to organizations aimed at the eradication of extreme poverty to show our government it can be done, a commitment to date, they have failed to adhere to. Yes I will. I believe that no person should be subject to the deprivation and indignity posed by extreme poverty. We all share an equal right to the most basic needs; food, water, shelter.
It is my sincere hope that our nation, a nation historically respected for its humanity, generosity and diplomacy will be accountable to its committment to donate 0.7% of our GDP by 2015; a committment to the Millenium Development goals UNANIMOUSLY supported by ALL RICH NATIONS in 2002.
